P74.56-B NAIA project set to upgrade airport

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board approved the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) project with an indicative cost of Php 74.56 billion (USD 1.65 billion).

Approved yesterday under the Public- Private Partnership Program, the project's winning private partner will improve, upgrade and enhance the operational efficiencies of all existing terminals of the NAIA covering both landside and airside (except air traffic services), to meet the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and develop the main gateway airport of the Philippines.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte convened the NEDA Board yesterday to approve several infrastructure projects around the country. This is the first NEDA board meeting under the Duterte administration since the president was elected in May.

As of September 15, there are 12 PPP projects under procurement which include the five regional airports project: Development, Operations and Maintenance of Laguindingan, Bohol, Davao, Iloilo and Bacolod. Five PPP projects are also waiting for approval of relevant government bodies. These projects include the Plaridel Bypass Toll Road, Philippine Travel Center Complex, New Nayong Pilipino at Entertainment City, North-South Railway Project (South Line) and Batangas-Manila (BatMan) 1 Natural Gas Pipeline.

On September 9, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issued a notice of award (NOA) to Unisys Public Sector Services Corporation for the Php 1.59 billion Civil Registry System – Information Technology Phase 2 project which will upgrade the current service levels of the PSA in providing the various civil registry documents: birth, marriage, death and no marriage certificates.
