The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), under the Duterte administration, is expected to pursue the construction of 10 bridges that would connect various islands across the Philippine archipelago.

Known as the Inter-Island Linkage Projects, the bridges to be constructed are : Mindoro Batangas Super Bridge (15 km), Panay-Guimaras Link Bridge (4 km), Guimaras- Negros Link Bridge (19 km), Cebu- Negros Link Bridge (7 km), Panguil Bay Bridge (3.5 km), Camarines-Catanduanes Friendship Bridge (10.7 km), Luzon-Samar Link Bridge (28 km), Cebu-Bohol Link Bridge (27.5 km), Bohol-Leyte Link Bridge (35 km), and the Leyte-Surigao Link Bridge (23 km).

"We will push for this but it would take time because these are long-span bridges," said DPWH Director for Planning Service Constante A. Llanes, Jr.

At the present, only the Panguil Bay Bridge is under implementation out of the 10 projects. It has an estimated cost of P4.86 billion and is expected to connect the City of Tangub in Misamis Occidental and the Municipality of Tubod in Lanao del Norte.
